MAX30105 (Heart Rate – Oximeter - Smoke) Sensor
The MAX30105 breakout is a sophisticated heart rate, oximeter, and smoke/particle sensor. The MAX30105 is a highly sensitive optical sensor. The MAX30105 sensor IC incudes internal LEDs (green, red, and infra-red) and photon detector to measure the amount of returning light that is reflected back from the LEDs. that can be used together to detect the amount of light reflected back to the sensor.
A technique called photo plethysmography (PPG) can be used to detect the change in reflected color of your skin with each beat of your heart and the SPO2 (Oximeter or amount of Oxygen in blood) when the sensor is pressed against your fingertip. This is also useful for various applications like particle (i.e. smoke) detection, proximity measurements. To make it even easier to use this breakout, all communication is enacted exclusively via I2C
